FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle blazes in Chester, Frodsham and Ellesmere Port last night (September 16).

Five engines – two from Chester and one each from Powey Lane, Ellesmere Port and Deeside – along with aerial ladder platform were sent to a fire at a block of flats in Chester at 8.15pm.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to a bin chute fire at flats in Stuart Place, Chester.

"Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out the fire.

"They then used a thermal imaging camera to check for fire spread."

The crew at Ellesmere Port were then called to a blaze on Sutton Way at 9.28pm.

It involved a bin and a hose reel was used to douse the flames.

At 10.10pm, three engines – from Runcorn, Widnes and Powey Lane – were called to a bathroom fire at a house in Howey Lane, Frodsham.

All occupants were accounted for and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out the fire, which was located in the shower, and isolated the electrics.

They used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots in the property and used a large fan to disperse the smoke.
