MOTORISTS are being warned of severe delays on the M56 this afternoon, Thursday.
This is due to emergency repairs taking place on the westbound carriageway.
Lanes one and two, of three, are currently closed while crews work on the road.
The affected stretch of road is at junction 12 for the A557 at Runcorn.

Travel time was estimated to be 60 minutes, but this has since risen to around an hour and a half, with congestion stretching back to junction 10 for Stretton.
There are also long delays on the A56 through Frodsham and the A557 as drivers avoid the motorway.
Motorists are advised to avoid using the motorway and to find alternative routes for essential journeys.
