Foster families were treated to an exclusive festival at Arley Hall and Gardens at the end of the summer holidays at an event dubbed ‘Glastonbury for kids’.

Organisers together with Foster4 welcomed families who foster children and young people across Cheshire West and Chester, Halton and Warrington to the stately home in Cheshire, for Geronimo Festival – a complimentary, all-access day of fun and entertainment.

Tara Falcous, Foster4’s marketing and recruitment manager said: “We are privileged to be in a position to offer this initiative to our families who foster.

“Many of our children and young people will never have had an experience like it.

“The cultural, creative, sporting and wellbeing events on offer at Geronimo are truly out of this world.

“From a big top circus to a mini tough mudder circuit and monster trucks, there were also performances from CBeebies favourites like Mr Bloom and eyes were wide from start to finish!”

Chester and District Standard:

There were opportunities for children and young people to explore different cultures and religions with workshops from the Rajasthan Brass Band and Messy Church.

They also immersed themselves in the diversity of the rural and urban communities with activities organised by the National Farmers Union and the Make a Splash graffiti community engagement project.

For anyone preferring a quieter experience, the ever-popular silent disco and yoga workshops are always big hits.

For the older teens – as well as the grown-ups - music and DJ sets from throwback favourites like Clint Boon and Bez kept the party going to the very end.

Foster carer Sue said: “We’ve got a big, busy household of children at all ages and stages.

“We really missed Geronimo over the past couple of years as it didn’t run due to Covid-19.

“Some of the children we care for had never even left their local area before, never mind experiencing something like this.

“It can be hard to find activities that suit everyone, especially when you’re caring for tots and teens, so it’s always a great day out.

“It’s a great feeling being able to say that we’ve taken them to their first festival.”

Get ready for a new fostering campaign

Next week, Foster4 will be announcing the launch of a new campaign to encourage more people to become foster carers.

The campaign will be aimed at anyone who may have never have thought it would be possible for them to foster.

If you live in or near to Cheshire West and Chester, Halton or Warrington, and have been thinking about fostering for some time, the latest recruitment drive might just inspire you to take the next step.

The campaign will run up to Christmas and will feature incentives, rewards and benefits that new foster carers could receive when they enrol with Foster4.

Free tickets to Geronimo is just one of the many benefits.
