A POPULAR Chester bistro has once again been named among the top restaurants in the UK.

Sticky Walnut in Hoole has now made the National Restaurant Awards top 100 list for the last nine years.

Last night (August 17), Restaurant Magazine announced the top 100 UK restaurants at their prestigious 2021 awards ceremony.

The restaurants are voted for by an expert panel of chefs, restaurateurs, food writers and critics.

The National Restaurant Awards celebrate the brilliance and vibrancy of the restaurant scene, and reward the very best chefs and operators from across the UK.

This year sees Sticky Walnut celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Reacting to the news, the Sticky Walnut Twitter page posted: "Last night was (the) National Restaurant Awards and once again we made the top 100 restaurants in the UK.

"Sticky has won many awards over the last 10 years but our biggest achievement by far is just that we’re still here."

Ahead of the awards, chef and owner Gary Usher, from Ellesmere Port, posted: "Running a restaurant isn’t easy but keeping one like Sticky Walnut consistent with its product for over 10 years is absolute testament to its team.

"Braised beef with truffle & Parmesan chips & then chicken liver pate then a simple roast beetroot starter then a classic creme brûlée… All these have been on the menu since day one.

"They are perfect bistro dishes. Our aim is just to do them perfectly time & time again. That’s it."
