THE past two years have been like no other for families, students and staff across the country.

At Bishop Heber, students completed at least 25% of all their learning remotely during their critically important GCSE and A-level courses.

In 2020 students’ grades were Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs) - a reflection of what students were expected to achieve at the end of their courses.

In 2021, this has been replaced with Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) which is fundamentally different as students have had to demonstrate what they are able to achieve.

Whilst there have been no exams for students to complete formally it’s been enormously demanding for everyone involved adapting to new and often revised exam board guidance.

So, for the first time in living memory, we celebrate both A-level and GCSE Results Days in the same week.

The Teacher Assessed Grades awarded this year reflected the traditionally high standards that have been achieved in recent years.

This is, yet again, an outstanding achievement which is the result of the excellent work ethic of our students and the expertise and commitment of our staff, as well as the support from friends and family.

At GCSE, Year 11 Students, staff and parents at are also celebrating their results. Grades achieved reflected the high standards that have been achieved in recent years.

This is an outstanding achievement which is the result of the excellent work ethic of our students and the expertise of our staff.

Students from across the ability range have achieved results which are a credit to them and demonstrate excellent progress which is a result of the culture of hard work, dedication and the commitment that they have developed during their five years at Heber.

They have approached the assessment process with determination and ambition. We would like to thank them for their maturity in the way that they have coped with difficult circumstances.

Head of Year 11, Mr Balmer said: " Much has been said about the difficulties faced this year by Year 11 students nationally, but the focus today is rightfully on the hard work Bishop Heber students have put in over the year, resulting in some excellent GCSE results. I wish them all the very best for the future and look forward to seeing many of them return to the Sixth Form.”

In addition, all Year 10 students were once again entered for English Language GCSE a year early and individually and collectively achieved very well indeed.

We are celebrating their success with 33% of all grades awarded the top Grades (9 -7) – a great springboard for their Year 11 GCSEs next summer.

The Headteacher, Mr Curry said, “Considering what everyone’s had to overcome over the past two years, we are extremely proud that students from across the ability range have achieved great results which are a credit to them and demonstrate excellent progress which is a result of the culture of hard work, dedication and commitment that they have developed during their five or seven years at Heber.

“These qualities are also apparent in their response to the current situation and we would like to thank them for their maturity in the way that they have coped with these extra-ordinary set of circumstances

“We are now very much looking forward to welcoming most of Year 11 back to our Sixth Form in September and wish our Year 13 students the very best for their future”.
