WHITBY HIGH School's headteacher has praised the school's A-level students for achieving an outstanding set of results.

Of the 112 students in the year, 54 per cent have been placed in their first choice university.

A school spokesperson said: "We are beyond proud of each and every one of them and couldn’t think of a group of young people more deserving of the bright future that is ahead of them all.

"In the face of real adversity, their hard work has paid off to produce an excellent set of grades."

Headteacher Bryn Heeley said: “ I am so proud of our students who have done so well in these examinations.

"The successes of all our students send out a powerful message that even in times of such adversity strength and focus prevails.

"I am humbled by all the hard work and commitment of these young people and our staff who have worked relentlessly to enable success.

"I am confident that the process The Whitby High School put in place enabled a true, accurate and responsible approach to the award of Teacher Assessed Grades and students should be confident they are deserving of their achievements. I wish the every success for the future.”
