A CHESTER business is throwing its support behind a local worthy cause by naming it as its charity of the year.

Bluestones Medical, based on Chester Business Park, has selected the Backford-based Hospice of the Good Shepherd for the next year.

The Bluestones Medical team has started planning lots of exciting fundraisers to help raise funds towards enabling the hospice to keep on providing specialist care to the local community.

Darren Logue, managing director, said: "We, at Bluestones Medical, are thrilled about our partnership with The Hospice of the Good Shepherd – and look forward to raising as much money as possible to make a real difference where we can.

“The work the hospice does is nothing short of amazing – and to be part of such an inspiring organisation is a real honour for everyone, here, at Bluestones Medical.”

Bluestones Medical has set the incredible target of raising £11,000, the cost it takes to run the hospice for a full day.

Justin Caroe, community and events manager, said: "We were so pleased to hear that Bluestones Medical had chosen to support the hospice this year.

"We rely so heavily on our local community to raise the £11,000-a-day running costs of the hospice and we were thrilled when the team set this amount as the fundraising target for the year. We are wishing the team the best of luck with their fundraising!"

The hospice is always looking for new corporate partners. Workplaces which support charities through charity of the year or volunteering opportunities are encouraged to get in touch with the hospice directly.

As with so many charities, the hospice is currently facing difficult financial times due to the continuing impact of the coronavirus and is having to find new and innovative ways to raise funds to ensure the hospice can continue to deliver its essential end of life care to the community.
