A CYCLIST suffered serious injuries after a collision with a car in Cheshire.

At around 4.20pm on Thursday, July 1, a man riding a bicycle was injured on Catherine Street, Widnes.

The incident involved a 63-year-old cyclist and a Ford Focus that was travelling towards Guest Street and Thomas Street.

He was taken to Whiston Hospital by ambulance after sustaining serious injuries to his body and has since been discharged.

Detectives investigating are appealing for members of the public to come forward with information.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have dash cam or CCTV footage around the Lugsdale Road, Alforde Street, Lacey Street, Catherine Street and Victoria Road areas between 4pm and 5pm.

DC Emily Ascroft, of Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “The cyclist sustained serious injuries that resulted in him being in hospital for a number of days.

“We have been following numerous enquiries to establish how he sustained his injuries, and I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist the investigation.

“I am also asking people who may have dash cam or CCTV footage to get in touch.

“The vehicle involved is a dark grey or silver Ford Focus, five door hatchback, 2010 model. I would also urge the driver of the vehicle to make contact with police.”
