A POPULAR coffee shop business in Chester city centre has confirmed the opening date for its new bakery – which is directly across the road from one of its existing premises.

Jaunty Goat says it has outgrown the kitchens at its Bridge Street base so has decided to expand its resources as well as being able to offer another retail presence through its latest venture.

And as an added bonus they have secured a unit directly opposite the existing shop.

The independently owned company also has a premises on Northgate Street.

Posting on its Facebook page, the business said: "We are excited to say that we will be opening our new bakery on Saturday the 24th of July – a date that is very special to us, as it also marks the sixth anniversary of our first home on Bridge Street!

"From humble beginnings as a single coffee shop on Bridge Street in 2015, to growing and gaining the first plant-based coffee shop in Chester on Northgate Street in 2019.

"With a goal to produce even more of our offering in-house, we soon opened our coffee roastery. With our latest venture in opening a bakery, we're pleased to have come so far, and we are so grateful for all of your support that has allowed us to grow.

"To celebrate, we'll be offering your choice of a bag of our Colombian Espresso or Ethiopian Filter, roasted specifically for the day – our gift to the first 50 customers.

"The bakery will be open from 7am – 3pm on Monday to Saturday, and 8am – 3pm on Sunday.

"Expect loaves, bakes and pastries from the counter – produced with a focus on sustainability, organic ingredients, and plenty of vegan-friendly options. Served alongside our espresso and filter roasts, produced at our roastery and HQ just outside the city-centre."
