A PROPOSAL put forward by an Ellesmere Port pub for a two-storey extension and a new glazed canopy at the front of the premises has been given the green light.

Madisons Cafe Bar on Princes Road had its plans rubber stamped by Cheshhire West and Chester Council today (July 15).

A planning report recommending approval states that the small scale side/rear extension would serve as an access for the residents on the first floor and provide an escape route from the function room.

The proposal also includes a new glazed canopy to the front elevation.

Council case officer Edward Shepherd states: "The development would be small scale, a total floor space of approximately 17m2 with the canopy light weight and of very limited prominence.

"It is considered that the proposal would not have a significant adverse impact on health or quality of life, having particular regard to residential amenity.

"It is considered that the proposed development would have no unacceptable impact in respect of visual amenity or highway safety."
