BUSINESS is booming for a newly-opened dog grooming and pet supplies store in Chester.

Pet Corner Hoole on Faulkner Street is about to celebrate its third month of trading with grooms now continuously booked out for six weeks in advance.

The business also sells a range of pick and mix dog treats – usually more than 30 items in stock with most 100% natural – as well as high-quality dog and cat toys and accessories.

The team behind Pet Corner Hoole is Abbi Evans, the director of the business and head groomer, and Alisha Gwatkin, a former zoo monkey keeper.

Their aim is for the store to eventually become a base for seminars, training and drop-in sessions.

Abbi said: "We live in Hoole and are part of the local community so we are very focused on wanting to give back.

"One of our suppliers recently delivered too much stock and told us to keep it instead of sending it back to them so rather than sell it we have donated it to a local dog charity.

"We told our social followers what we were doing and had loads of people drop off old dog beds and unused food to include in the donation.

"We also donated a portion of our profits in our opening weekend to NHS Charities together and Leukaemia care UK.

"With the massive increase in the number of puppies in Hoole we're trying hard to create a small community so that we can, when able, start to use the shop as a base for seminars, training and drop-in sessions where we can connect local dog owners with local service providers such as vets, trainers, walkers and photographers."
