BLUES fans are being invited to tune in to a gig by a female guitar prodigy this October in Chester.

Chantel McGregor will be performing at The Live Rooms, Station Road, on October 3.

Chantel was told at the age of 14 by major labels she had a "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!" Wisely ignoring the comments, she enrolled at the Leeds College of Music and became the first student in the college’s history, to achieve a 100 per cent pass mark, with 18 distinctions.

Chantel left with a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music and a coveted prize, the college’s musician of the year award. In previous years, Chantel stepped out in the pro-musician world and her stunning live performances demonstrated that she had the ability to perform rock for the new age. Since then, she has built a loyal and growing fan base who follow her every move.

She released her debut album Like No Other in 2011, followed by Like Control in October 2015 to critical acclaim. The single Take The Power was playlisted for five weeks on Planet Rock radio.

In December 2018, Chantel launched her own Podcast, which has been very successful, earning a place in the iTunes Podcast Charts.

During the pandemic, Chantel has been performing solo on a weekly live stream, the 'Shed Sessions', which streams every Saturday at 5pm UK time on her official Facebook page, Youtube, Twitter and Twitch, and is due to release two albums featuring music performed on the ‘Shed Sessions’.

Chantel will be performing new songs, reworking tracks from her previous two albums and playing some rare cover versions.

Tickets, priced £15 for the gig on October 3 (doors open 7pm), can be purchased at https://www.theliverooms.com/event/chantel-mcgregor/
