A CHESTER city centre restaurant has been forced to close temporarily after a member of staff came into contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid-19.

Stile Napoletano, on Watergate Street, has informed customers the member of staff had been contacted through the NHS Test and Trace programme on Sunday.

It means the pizzeria has, as a precaution, taken the decision to remain closed, with all bookings cancelled.

A statement on Stile Napoletano's social media pages, and at the front of the restaurant, confirmed that unfortunately one of the team members had been in contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid-19.

It added: "It is our responsibility to ensure everyone is safe, including our community.

"We are now in the process of testing everyone and continue to sanitise our shop.

"We thank you for your understanding and support. We will let you know when we will open again."

The restaurant added it apologised to its customers for the inconvenience.
