SEVEN fire engines were sent out in the early hours to deal with a house blaze in Chester.

The fire occurred in a property on Belle Vue Lane, Guilden Sutton, shortly after 2am.

A man was out of the house when crews arrived and was given first aid at the scene.

Two engines from Chester and the aerial appliance, as well as engines from Ellesmere Port, Powey Lane, Penketh and Birchwood attended the incident.

An investigation into the cause is now underway.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called following a fire at a property on Belle Vue Lane.

"A man was out of the house prior to the arrival of the fire service and first aid was provided.

"Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a covering jet and hose reel jet to tackle the flames.

"The gas and electric supply to the property were isolated.

"The crews then began damping down the roof and removed affected areas.

"An investigation into the cause of the fire has now begun."
