A DOG sustained a dislocated hip after falling 20m down an embankment in Chester and getting stuck in mud.

Firefighters were called out to rescue the dog, called Bob, shortly after 9pm last Sunday (June 6).

Chester Fire Station posted on its Facebook page yesterday about the incident.

It said: "Green Watch were called to a report of a dog trapped in the mud by the River Dee.

"Once in attendance, we set up the water rescue team, to access the river and wade across the mud to Bob the dog.

"He'd got loose from his owner, and jumped over the wall 20m down.

"The tide was out at the time, so he landed into some very deep mud.

"Once the crew gained the trust of Bob, we assessed his injuries.

"We then dug him out of the mud and used a sling to assist him back up onto dry land.

"His owner transported him to the emergency vets, who found he had dislocated hip but are hopeful he'll make a full recovery."
