A POPULAR Ellesmere Port tea room will reopen its doors later this month with new owners at the helm.

Port and Anchor Eatery, based at the premises formerly occupied by The Galley restaurant in South Pier Road, near to the National Waterways Museum, launched back in December last year.

The business is currently closed with departing owners Helena Griffiths and Mark Tilston stepping aside due to "health issues".

It will reopen on June 16 under new ownership.

A post on the Port and Anchor Eatery Facebook page on Saturday stated: "We have some exciting news the doors will be back open from 16th of June.

"Jon and Dan will be filling our shoes and taking over, they will be continuing to do everything we have done and much more.

"If you have an afternoon tea voucher with us they are still valid just remember to book with 48 hours notice.

"We have had to step aside due to health issues but we have enjoyed every minute getting the Port and Anchor off to a fantastic start, meeting all the lovely customers.

"But from today we have to say a fond farewell. Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this horrible year.

"We hope you continue to support this local family-run business, and all the staff can’t wait to welcome you on your next visit."
