THERE has been excitement in the air today, Monday, as indoor hospitality reopened, as well as indoor entertainment and group exercise classes for adults.

At long last, diners can enjoy a meal without the need for blankets and coats.

And group exercise classes for adults are now permitted to take place in person, and not through a computer screen.

It was an extra special reopening day at The Riverside Inn in Acton Bridge, which had been under more than a metre of water when the River Weaver burst its banks earlier this year.

But following significant investment by brewery owner Marston's of £850,000, the pub has been completely transformed, with general manager Kelly Martin excited to be welcoming back her much-missed customers.

She said: "The pub has been completely modernised from top the bottom.

"They've (Marston's) gone for a completely new style, so it's all very modern and country inside now and more up market.

"It's absolutely stunning."

Film lovers can also visit the big screen again as Odeon Northwich reopened its doors.

Tickets went on sale on May 12.

Carol Welch, managing director of Odeon Cinemas Group UK and Ireland, said: "We've all missed the magic that the cinema brings to movie watching, and we know our guests are excited about coming back.

"We are sure they will enjoy the great new offers that make their movie experiences better than ever.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to all our Odeon team members for their amazing energy and commitment over the last 12 months which has allowed us to get back to what we do best – welcoming guests back to experience movies in the best possible way.”

Meanwhile, staff at BEAR Northwich said they felt like 'kids on Christmas Eve' at reopening indoor dining today.

Taking to Facebook, they said: "It's been a bumpy road up to this point, but we're beside ourselves with excitement to see all of your wonderful faces again.

"A huge shout out to our incredible, fabulous teams – they've been working super duper hard to get our stores ready to welcome you all back, and they're so pumped to get back in to the swing of things.

"Wishing the absolute best of luck to all of our hospitality pals for tomorrow and the coming weeks - this is it!"

The team at Barons Quay added: "Oh how we've missed these lovely interiors at Barons Quay.

"Come down and enjoy eating indoors at The Coffee House Online, Sticky Paws in the Flavour Forest, Geek Retreat Northwich, BEAR and Wildwood this week."
