POLICE have arrested two men on suspicion of kidnap following an incident in Cheshire involving a 15-year-old boy.

At about 10.40pm last night (Sunday, May 16) the teenager reported that he had been approached by two unknown men near to the Flowe Pot on Congleton Road, Macclesfield, who were asking for drugs.

The boy refused and was subsequently threatened by the pair and forced into a nearby car.

Thankfully the boy managed to escape uninjured and called for assistance.

Two Macclesfield men, aged 32 and 47, have since been arrested on suspicion of kidnap in connection with the incident.

The pair are currently being questioned by officers in police custody.

Detective Inspector Duncan Gouck said: “This kind of incident is extremely rare and I understand the concern that it is likely to cause.

“I would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to establish exactly what has taken place and patrols have been stepped up in the local area.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and the two men arrested are assisting officers with their enquiries.

“As part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes that they may have witnessed the incident.

“The same goes for anyone who was driving on Congleton Road, near to the Flower Pot, between 10pm and 10.40pm and has any dashcam footage that may aid our investigation.”
