STAFF from a Flintshire community hospital have completed their 'Elf Dash' - several months after Christmas.

Mold Community Hospital's staff's fundraising 5km run - wearing elf costumes - around the town was supposed to take place in December.

However, the event was cancelled due to the second wave of the coronavirus. But, not to be deterred, the hospital rearranged the event for Friday (May 14).

And Santa Claus even popped in during his time off to support them.

Newly elected Mold mayor, Cllr Sarah Taylor, also joined the elves at the hospital to send them off on their run.

She said: "I was delighted to start the 'Couch to 5k Elf Dash' fundraising fun run.

"Staff at the hospital have worked tremendously hard in the past 12 months in the most difficult old circumstances. It is a testament to their dedication the their profession that they can also find the enthusiasm and energy to run the 5km.

"I wish them every success with their fundraising efforts. We are so lucky to still have a community hospital in Mold anyone wishing to donate can do at the hospital or online at their GoFundMe page."

The money raised will go to the hospital's activity pot.
