TWO men have appeared in court after an alleged incident involving a machete in McDonald's in Bournemouth town centre.

Police were called to the Christchurch Road fast food restaurant at 10.14pm on Friday May 7 to a report of a man with machete.

It is claimed that two men were in the restaurant when they were approached by a group of men.

An altercation is said to have taken place involving the two groups, before they dispersed and left the area. There were no reports of any injuries sustained.

Officers attended and carried out arrest enquiries in nearby St Peter's Road.

Riley Benjamin Davies, 18, of Westover Road, Bournemouth and Tyler William Scott Ratcliffe, 22, of Junction Road, Poole appeared before Poole magistrates on Monday charged in relation to the alleged incident.

Both are accused of having an offensive weapon, namely a machete, in McDonald's in Christchurch Road, Bournemouth without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.

They are also both charged with using or threatening unlawful violence towards another.

Both offences are alleged to have taken place on May 7.

They were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday June 7.
