A PERSON has died after a casualty was reported on the railway line at a station in Cheshire.
The extremely sad news was confirmed by British Transport Police this afternoon, Monday .
Officers were called to the scene at around 1.40pm after receiving reports of a casualty on the tracks at Padghate Station, Warrington.
They are currently working to identify the person and inform their family.
The force confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
There is significant disruption on the railway as a result, with delays expected up to 6pm.
The line was closed in both directions, impacting services between Warrington Central and Manchester Oxford Road, but National Rail is reporting that it has since reopened.

🚆As trains return to normal, some trains may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or be cancelled. Disruption is expected until 18:00.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Padgate station at 1.40pm today, Monday, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
