FIREFIGHTERS really do save cats that get stuck in trees, as was proven in Runcorn on Saturday (May 8) afternoon.

One fire engine from the town's station was called to a trapped feline on Lutterworth Avenue just before 12.30pm.

After using a ladder and a net, the cat was brought back down to safety before being reunited with its delighted owners.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters attended to a cat stuck up a tree on Lutterworth Avenue.

"Using a 7m ladder and a net, the cat was brought to safety by crews.

"The cat was then handed to its owners."
