ELLESMERE Port's Vue cinema will reopen its doors on May 17, it has been confirmed today.

Vue has announced that all of its venues in England, Wales and Scotland will welcome back cinema goers on that date, subject to lockdown restrictions easing.

It has also confirmed what Covid-19 safety protocols will be in place.

"We’re very excited to announce that we will be opening all our venues in England, Scotland and Wales on Monday 17 May, with tickets now on sale!", said Vue.

"We strongly believe in the power of escapism that a couple of hours spent at the cinema provides and we are looking forward to opening our doors for the ultimate big screen experience.

"Between August and December 2020, we safely welcomed back over two million customers to cinemas across the UK and Ireland.

"We remain confident that we provide safe and controlled ways for you to enjoy much-needed out of home entertainment.

"We continue to follow public health advice and the safety of our team and customers remains of utmost importance.

"We planned extensively for our reopening last year and have continued to work with authorities to implement wide-reaching new safety measures across our venues."

Vue says it is focusing on the following six key areas to ensure customers, along with its staff, are as safe as possible:

  1. Enhanced online booking to make the visit as contactless as possible.
  2. Physical distanced seating meeting Government guidelines.
  3. All customers are required to wear a face covering during their visit, although you are able to remove this to consume food and drink.
  4. Enhanced cleaning and employee protection, including PPE.
  5. Reduced number of touchpoints.
  6. Fully refundable tickets for My Vue members.
