A YOUNG star fundraiser from Ellesmere Port has taken the next big steps to help his local community.

Seven-year-old Cal Graham has been raising thousands of pounds for local good causes over the past year, making and helping deliver food parcels to vulnerable people during the first Covid lockdown.

And now Cal has reached new heights by climbing Mount Snowdon, following three months of training.

Proud dad Gaz Graham explained: "He managed after three months training to make it to the top of Snowdon. He led me most of the way.

"The climb meant he achieved 27,000 for the steps too.

"In the next couple of weeks Cal will head along to those groups to pass on cheques to each of them."

It was initially decided that all money from the fundraising challenge would go to Ellesmere Port Foodbank and Elm Grove Community Park, with a target of £1,000 set.

But that target was smashed, with a total of £2,910 raised.

Money will now be split as follows:

  • Foodbank £550, plus £200 contribution from CEMEX
  • Elm Grove Park £250
  • Trinity Church £350
  • Flynns Port In The Storm £350
  • Boat Shed £350
  • Flight To Freedom £350
  • Hospice Of The Good Shepherd £350
  • Thurston Family £350

In addition, £350 of the funds raised was done so by Cal's older brother Kaden, who set up a one-day tuck shop at the end of the driveway as a way of supporting his younger brother Cal.

Gaz added: "Since last February, that's £7,000 raised for various local causes in a number of different ways."
