A MAN was taken to hospital following a house fire in Chester last night (April 20).
Firefighters were called to the blaze on Walpole Street at 10.08pm.
The fire involved an electrical socket in a first floor bedroom.
Two engines from Chester attended with crews at the scene for about an hour and a half.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Shortly after 10pm firefighters from Chester were dispatched to reports of a fire at an address on Walpole Street.
"On arrival, two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building with a hose reel jet and discovered the fire involved an electrical socket in a first floor bedroom.
"The crew isolated the electrics and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
"They then used a large fan to clear the smoke from the property and a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
"One person was taken to hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation.
"The crews were detained at the scene for around 90 minutes."
A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that a man was taken to hospital suffering minor smoke inhalation.
One ambulance attended the scene having been called at 11pm.
