A CHESTER pub next to the railway station has reopened to the public with a new look.

The Town Crier pub, on City Road in Chester, has reopened its beer garden this week, following a six-figure investment, under the experienced reigns of general manager Rob Gordon.

The renovation of the garden includes the build of three new external booths, all of which are covered and house their own TV screens.

A larger TV screen has also been installed in the wider seating area, while there is new furniture, plants and shrubbery, as well as a new mobile bar that will serve a selection of products.

We revealed last week the renovation plans had been given the green light by Cheshire West and Chester Council, allowing the pub to welcome back customers after a long lockdown absence.

Rob Gordon, general manager of The Town Crier, said: “I am so excited by this transformation and am delighted to finally welcome customers into our brand-new garden this week.

"The Town Crier is a fantastic pub in a great location and this refurbishment has injected a new lease of life into this venue.”

The pub’s transformation is happening in two parts. Although the beer garden is now open, parts of the pub’s infrastructure are still undergoing further investment and so until April 30, the pub will be serving drinks only.

In the meantime, the pub has partnered with Dough Bellissimo, bringing artisan pizzas to its customers.

Rob continued: “Our priority remains the safety and well-being of our team and customers, whilst ensuring everyone is able to enjoy and make the most out of their long-awaited visit to our pub.”

The pub has ensured it complies with the new Covid-19 Secure Workplace Guidance for Pubs and Restaurants, introducing measures to protect staff and customers and ensuring the smooth running of operations.

Understanding the importance of clarity for customers, The Town Crier has installed external signage clearly setting out the safety measures in place.

Customers will be greeted with a warm welcome from both managers and teams, and robust Covid-secure measures, including clear social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning regimes and adhering to NHS Test and Trace guidelines; full table service with contactless payments available, customers can also order food and drinks via an app, will be in operation.
