FOUR fire engines have been deployed to tackle a fire at an industrial site in Chester.

The incident at the Calder Industrial Materials site on Jupiter Drive – near the Chester Mail Centre – was reported to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service at 12.41pm on Thursday, April 8.

One fire engine was deployed from Powey Lane, one from Runcorn, one from Tarporley and one from Chester.

Upon arrival, crews used a thermal imaging camera and established the fire involved overhead ducting.

Wearing two breathing apparatus, a hose reel and covering jets were used to put out the flames.

Those at the site have been evacuated as a precaution and residents living nearby are advised to close windows and doors.

Police are enforcing a temporary closure, blocking off access at the bottom of the road.
