A RUBBISH fire which spread to a derelict building in Chester is believed to have been started deliberately.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in The Beeches area of Upton shortly before 9pm yesterday (April 7).
One fire engine from the city attended the incident.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival the crew discovered that it was a small outside fire involving a quantity of rubbish that had spread to a door of a derelict building.
"Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. They then used tools to cut away the charred areas of the door frame.
"Firefighters also used a thermal imaging camera to look for hotspots and make sure that the building was safe.
"They were in attendance for around an hour-and-a-half. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
"Anyone with any information about the fire should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 958326, or give the details via cheshire.police.uk/ro/report."
