TWO men have been arrested after a lengthy police pursuit resulted in a suspected stolen car being stopped in Ellesmere Port.
Officers were sent to New Chester Road in Wirral, near to the Queensway tunnel, at around 1.30pm on Monday, April 5 following a sighting of a suspected stolen Ford Fiesta.
Both Merseyside and Cheshire police patrols, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter, pursued the car.
It was subsequently stopped in Ellesmere Port and two men were detained at the scene:
- A 27-year-old man from Litherland was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He was taken to a police station for questioning and has now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
- A 29-year-old man from Netherton was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary; theft of a motor vehicle; drug driving. He remains under investigation for these matters but has been recalled to prison after his licence was revoked.
