FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze at a farm in Chester.
One engine from the city was sent to the fire in a field off Greenfield Lane, Hoole, yesterday evening (April 6).
The blaze involved 20 tonnes of loose straw.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 5.20pm firefighters from Chester attended a fire in a field at a farm in Hoole.
"The fire involved around 20 tonnes of loose straw which was laid out in the field.
"Firefighters used a hose reel jet and a main jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the field.
"The crew were detained at the scene for around one hour 20 minutes."
Elsewhere, a crew from Chester was called at 8.05pm to tackle a fire near to the woodland trail at Countess of Chester Country Park.
Firefighters used a water backpack to extinguish the flames.
The crew were detained at the scene for around 45 minutes.
