FIREFIGHTERS in Chester have been tackling a garage fire at a city centre residential block this afternoon (Tuesday, April 6).
The blaze in Charles Street, off Brook Street, began in the ground floor of the block, with smoke rising to the upper floors, forcing residents to be evacuated.
Four fire engines were deployed to the scene at 1.41pm – two from Chester, one from Powey Lane and one from Runcorn.
Several firefighters wearing breathing apparatus had used one main jet and two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
A burnt-out car was removed from the garage.
More to follow.
