AN INVESTIGATION has been launched following a fie at a shop in Frodsham.
Three fire crews were called out to the blaze shortly before 8.30pm yesterday (Monday, April 5) in Main Street.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the unoccupied premises.
A flat upstairs was evacuated and the electricity supply to the two-storey building was isolated.
Firefighters extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.
A covering jet was also set up.
Once the fire looked to be out firefighters made sure that it had not spread beyond the shop.
They used a large fan to clear smoke from the building.
A spokesman for the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The road was closed by the police whilst firefighters worked at the scene.
"Firefighters were in attendance for more than an hour-and-a-half.
"An investigation into the cause of the fire has begun."
