THE founder of a popular restaurant chain has given fans a sneak preview of the incoming Cheshire Oaks site which will open later this year.

TV presenter, chef and Mowgli Street Food founder Nisha Katona MBE took a trip to the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet site earlier this week, filming a short video giving details of what she described as an "incredible" site, located at the former Giraffe restaurant near McDonald's.

Nisha explained the new Mowgli will have a "massive" atrium and "space for 65 seats next to the playground".

Giving viewers a tour around the restaurant, Nisha explained the kitchen area will be "flooded in natural light - it's incredible".

She added: "This is where I used to bring my kids to play, in that playground, and it's beyond belief that I can actually have the keys to a place that looks out on it!"

It is hoped the new restaurant will be ready to open its doors to the public by the end of June, a date which had been postponed from its original March date due to the latest Covid lockdown.

Mowgli Street Food was first launched in 2014 in Liverpool by founder Nisha Katona, who wanted to build an eatery serving the kind of food Indians eat at home and on the street.

She gave up her 20-year career as a barrister to do so and, following the launch of Mowgli Liverpool, nine more restaurants across the UK followed.

In 2018 Mowgli was awarded a placement in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list, and the following Nisha was recognised with an MBE in the 2019 New Year Honours list for services to the food industry.
