AN air ambulance has landed at a car park near the Greyhound Retail Park in Chester following a collision between a motorbike and a car.

The crash happened on Sealand Road near to the Halliwell Jones dealership around 10.30am today.

The air ambulance landed in the nearby Stokers furniture shop car park.

The male rider was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, while a female passenger of the bike was taken to Aintree hospital.

The road was shut following the collision and reopened at 1pm.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We received a 999 call at 10.38am reporting a two-vehicle RTC [road traffic collision] involving a motorbike and a car.

"We mobilised a number of number of resources including two ambulances and an air ambulance.

"We’ve taken two patients to hospital by road."

The NWAS spokesperson added the extent of the injuries as yet was unknown.

Cheshire Police said: "At 10.40am on Thursday 4 March police were called to reports of a collision on Sealand Road, Chester.

"Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a white Peugeot 308 and a silver Yamaha motorbike.

"The rider and passenger of the motorbike sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

"The rider, a man, was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, the passenger, a woman, was taken to Aintree.

"The road was closed as a result of the incident, it reopened at 1pm.

"Anyone with any information in relation to the collision is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 930767."
