A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital with injuries described as "serious" following an incident in Chester.

Police and paramedics were called to Newton Lane this morning after receiving reports of concern for a female in the area.

Cheshire Constabulary said: "At 10.25am on Thursday 25 February police were called to reports of concern for the safety of a woman near Newton Lane in Chester.

"Officers and paramedics attended to the scene and the woman was taken to Aintree Hospital by air ambulance with injuries described as serious."

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed that a woman had been taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.

We reported earlier that an air ambulance had landed on a sports field in Chester this morning (February 25).

The helicopter was seen near to one of the football pitches at Lime Wood Fields in Kingway.
