A SECTION of road on the outskirts of Chester was closed while firefighters dealt with a car on fire.

One fire crew responded to the blaze shortly before 8pm last night (Wednesday, February 24) in Chester Road, Tarporley.

On arrival the crew found one car well alight.

One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.

The crew damped down the scene before checking the temperature of the car with a thermal imaging camera.

Road closures were in place but were reopened a short time later.
