GAS works expected to last for four weeks are due to get underway in Hoole this week.
The gas mains replacement scheme will start at the junction of Hamilton Street and Newton Lane.
Hamilton Street has been closed to through traffic from today (February 22), with work then progressing on to Hoole Road and Newton Lane from March 1.
From that date on, as well as the closure of Hamilton Street, there will be one-way traffic on Newton Lane – between Hoole Road and Shavington Avenue – with vehicles being able to travel from Hoole Road past the works.
Hoole Road will be under two-way traffic lights – which is set to be in place for the end of the works. A diversion is in place.
Gas company Cadent is under instruction from the Health and Safety Executive to replace all cast iron mains within thirty metres of properties inside a 30-year period, known as the 30/30 program.
Cheshire West and Chester Council says Cadent have arranged a letter drop to affected properties in the area and signage at key locations.
