CHESHIRE Oaks has donated sports equipment to an Ellesmere Port-based charity supporting children impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The popular shopping destination has provided yoga mats, skipping ropes and hula hoops for Passion for Learning to give to youngsters currently learning at home during lockdown.

The initiative is part of the centre’s longstanding partnership with Stanlaw Abbey Business Centre-based Passion for Learning – a charity focused on enriching the lives of children across Cheshire – having previously donated its annual fireworks budget and proceeds from its Christmas events.

Kenny Murray, centre manager at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Cheshire Oaks, said: "We are really delighted to have been able to work with Passion for Learning again – donating a selection of sports equipment for children working at home to utilise during enrichment time.

"We understand how difficult it has been for families during the pandemic and hope this equipment will make learning from home a little more interesting and engaging for families in the community."

Viv Couche, development manager at Passion for Learning, added: "The support from Cheshire Oaks is fantastic for us, both in terms of physical resources like the sports equipment and in the future opportunities to take children on trips to workplaces which they would never otherwise be able to encounter.

"We’ve established a number of really positive partnerships with businesses across our region to benefit the local community and were delighted to create this link with Cheshire Oaks in 2020."
