THE GP-led Covid-19 vaccination hub in Ellesmere Port is now inviting patients aged 16-64 in the 'at risk' category to receive the life-saving jab.

One Ellesmere Port Primary Care Network, who are behind the roll-out of the vaccine at the town's Civic Hall, confirmed that they have invited all eligible patients over the age of 70 and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals.

Patients aged 65-70 are now being offered the choice of receiving the vaccine at Chester Racecourse, where a new large-scale vaccination centre is due to go live next week, or at the Ellesmere Port hub.

In an update, One Ellesmere Port Primary Care Network – which comprises the town's six GP practices with the capacity to administer 1,000 vaccines in a day – said: "Thank you to all patients who have attended our clinics this week, we have now invited all patients in cohorts 1-4.

"If you are in these cohorts and you have not been contacted by your GP Practice, please call them to arrange your appointment for your vaccine.

"In line with national guidance, One Ellesmere Port are now inviting patients from Group 6 – adults aged 16-64 in an at risk group.

"Patients in Group 5 – aged 65-70 – have been offered the choice of attending a mass vaccination site at Chester Racecourse via a letter.

"Patients in Group 5 can choose to have their vaccination done locally at the Ellesmere Port Civic Centre and you need to inform your practice if this is what you want to do.

"Our practices in One Ellesmere Port look forward to continuing with your care needs in delivering our vaccination programme."
