A CANADIAN coffee and fast food chain is heading to Chester.

Tim Hortons is set to open a restaurant and drive-thru at the former Pizza Hut unit on Chester Retail Park.

Plans to build a drive-thru facility at the site were given the green light in November last year – just days before Pizza Hut closed its doors for good.

Now an application for advertisement consent has been lodged with Cheshire West and Chester Council revealing that Tim Hortons is to occupy the vacant unit.

The Toronto-based firm, which is well-known for its range of coffee and doughnuts, began opening stores in the UK in 2017 in locations such as Cardiff, Glasgow and London.

The franchise recently lodged plans to open a branch at Broughton Shopping Park.

The application for advertisement consent, put forward on behalf of Tim Hortons, states: "Pizza Hut have closed this restaurant and it is currently vacant.

"Tim Hortons propose to occupy the unit for the sale of hot drinks and food via a drive thru operation, as well as within the restaurant itself.

"The letting of this unit to Tim Hortons will ensure the vacant unit can be brought back into beneficial use as soon as possible and the drive thru facility already approved will also assist with any continuity of trade during these uncertain times of hospitality restrictions and shut downs."
