THE Countess of Chester was the only hospital trust in Cheshire not to record any Covid patient deaths in the latest one-day reporting period.

NHS England data released this afternoon shows that no further deaths were registered by the trust, which covers both the Chester and Ellesmere Port hospital sites, in the 24 hours up to 4pm on February 1.

Two additional deaths had been reported by the trust in yesterday's update.

Elsewhere in the county, East Cheshire (1), Mid Cheshire (3) and Warrington & Halton (5) hospital trusts all recorded additional deaths in the latest one-day period.

The total number of Covid-19 patient deaths recorded in Cheshire's hospital trusts since the coronavirus pandemic began is:

  • Countess of Chester: 507
  • East Cheshire: 262
  • Mid Cheshire: 422
  • Warrington and Halton: 406
  • Total: 1,597

The daily NHS England data provides information on deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England after testing positive for Covid-19, split by trust.

Across England, a further 767 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 72,912.

Patients were aged between 23 and 102 years old. All except 31 (aged 23 to 102 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from 29 December 2020 to 1 February 2021, with the majority being on or after 27 January.

Their families have been informed.
