THE M53 northbound has been closed due a serious accident.
A car has overturned on the motorway between junction 5 at the A41 New Chester Road to Eastham and junction 4 on the A5137 Brimstage Road in Bebington.
Firefighters and paramedics are at the scene.
Police say traffic is coping well.
Delays are affecting traffic between Birkenhead and Chester.
Accident investigators are now at the scene.
The road is expected to remain closed until this evening.
