PUPILS of an Ellesmere Port primary school have shown their appreciation for hard-working NHS staff at local hospitals.

Year 4 youngsters at Parklands Community Primary School have spent time outside of their usual home learning this week to write letters of support for staff at the Countess of Chester Hospital and Wirral University Teaching Hospital.

One letter says: "Thank you for being amazing, caring people with big hearts. You are always there when we need you even more now during this dreadful time.

"We appreciate everything you do, for working very long hours and sacrificing your own health as well as giving up your time to take care and spend time with your own family."

Another wrote: "You all are going above and beyond doing more than you have to do. We want to say thank you so I'm writing this letter.

"You all deserve something amazing."

Another Year 4 pupil wrote: "My name is Tyler, I have been to hospital a few times.

"You are all doing a fabulous job. I think you are all amazing."

And another wrote: "Thank you for helping a vast number of patients, even though you could catch the virus yourself.

"You are amazing coming to work even during this colossal pandemic.

"I hope Mr Johnson gives you all a pay rise."

In response on social media, the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust tweeted: "Wow, what lovely comments! Thank you so much to your Year 4 pupils.

"Let them know we will share this with our teams and this will no doubt make them smile going into the weekend."
