STOURBRIDGE MP Suzanne Webb has said she was “bursting with pride” after visiting the town’s vaccination hub to see first-hand how more than 450 Covid jabs are being administered each day.

The Tory MP spent more than an hour at Stourbridge National Spiritualist Church, in Union Street, which has become a vaccination centre.

A dedicated group of administrators, pharmacists and vaccinators are now undertaking 456 jabs a day or 13 every 15 minutes for people in the top four priority groups - care home residents, over 70s, health and care workers and the clinically extremely vulnerable.

Yesterday, the hub administered the Pfizer-BioNTech jab but today (Friday) it received its first supply of the British-developed Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccination.

The plan is to be flexible and give both vaccines depending on supplies, the MP said she was told.

She said: "I am incredibly grateful to have been able to see just how well this hub is working to make sure the most vulnerable in Stourbridge are protected from this terrible virus as quickly as possible.

“This is a massive logistical task but also a tremendous community effort with local GPs loaning their staff and everyone pulling together to get this job done. "I was bursting with pride as I saw just how well it was all working and I thank all the people who have made it happen behind the scenes and on the frontline.

“When I spoke to those waiting for the jab there was a clear sense of relief - that they will soon be protected and looking forward to getting on with their lives once again.

“The process is simple and I would urge everyone who is called for a jab to go and get it done.”
