FIVE more coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded by the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
NHS England figures released this afternoon show that two patients sadly died yesterday, with a further three deaths occurring on January 5.
East Cheshire (5), Mid Cheshire (1) and Warrington & Halton (2) hospital trusts also recorded additional deaths in the latest one-day reporting period.
The total number of Covid-19 patient deaths recorded in Cheshire's hospital trusts since the coronavirus pandemic began is:
- Countess of Chester: 379
- East Cheshire: 213
- Mid Cheshire: 337
- Warrington and Halton: 322
- Total: 1,251
The daily NHS England data provides information on deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England and had either tested positive for Covid-19 or where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across England, a further 661 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 53,730.
Patients were aged between 33 and 103 years-old. All except 28 – aged 48 to 96 years-old – had known underlying health conditions.
Date of death ranges from December 2 to January 6.
Their families have been informed.

- East of England - 101
- London - 164
- Midlands - 97
- North East & Yorkshire - 79
- North West - 49
- South East - 129
- South West - 42
