EIGHT coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded by the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
NHS England data released this afternoon shows that two deaths sadly occurred yesterday, with four on January 3 and two on December 31.
East Cheshire (3) and Mid Cheshire (1) hospital trusts also recorded additional deaths in the latest one-day reporting period.
The total number of Covid-19 patient deaths recorded in Cheshire's hospital trusts since the coronavirus pandemic began is:
- Countess of Chester: 370
- East Cheshire: 207
- Mid Cheshire: 329
- Warrington and Halton: 317
- Total: 1,223
The daily NHS England data provides information on deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England and had either tested positive for Covid-19 or where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
Across England, a further 582 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 52,395.
Patients were aged between 29 and 103 years-old. All except 25 (aged 56 to 101 years-old) had known underlying health conditions.
Date of death ranges from November 5 to January 4, with the majority being on or after January 1.
Their families have been informed.

- East of England - 86
- London - 120
- Midlands - 97
- North East & Yorkshire - 66
- North West - 109
- South East – 77
- South West - 27
