TWO Ellesmere Port opticians have raised £2,500 to support families in need over the Christmas period.
Specsavers stores based in the town centre and at Sainsbury's supermarket donated £1 to community food club, The Port Grocery, for every eye test they administered over the last month.
Staff and customers at the stores also donated four large boxes of food to the charity.
Chris Graham, director at the two Specsavers stores, said: "We know what an incredibly difficult year it’s been for our local communities due to the impact of the pandemic.
"We see people from our nearby communities every day in our stores and hear their stories – it can be incredibly upsetting. So we feel very strongly about doing our bit to support them.
"Funds raised will mean much needed grocery supplies can be bought to give directly to families in need in our communities, helping them to get through the festivities and school holidays with plenty to eat."
