RESIDENTS at a Chester care home did not let the pandemic stop them from making new friends to celebrate the festive season.
Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, received a special delivery from Abbey Gate College.
Specially made for residents, the colourful Christmas cards feature drawings and collages as well as messages and festive notes.
The home is now hoping to build on this existing relationship with the school and work together on more initiatives in the future, including a pen pals scheme.
Sally Cooper, home manager at Deewater Grange, said: “We’re starting to feel really festive here at Deewater Grange, and receiving these Christmas cards was a wonderful surprise for residents.
“Intergenerational relationships have proven to be enriching for both young and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other.
"There is no doubt that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship between our home and pupils at Abbey Gate College, and we look forward to our next activity together.”
