VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help GPs with the delivery of a Covid-19 vaccination programme in Ellesmere Port.

One Ellesmere Port Primary Care Network, comprising the town's six GP practices, will require volunteers to act as stewards at its vaccination site.

It says the programme is still currently being planned out and further details will be released soon.

Members of the public interested in helping are urged to sign up for the NHS Volunteer Responders scheme which has been set up by NHS England and NHS Improvement, in partnership with the Royal Voluntary Service.

In order to join you must:

  • Live in England and be over the age of 18.
  • Use a smartphone. This is because tasks will be sent directly to your phone through the GoodSAM app. Don’t worry if you are not familiar with this technology, there is plenty of help available.
  • Decide which of the NHS Volunteer Responder role/s you would like to do.
  • Consider your own health condition when choosing role/s.
  • Be able to volunteer as much as you possibly can.

The app-based scheme enables volunteers to mark themselves on or off duty depending on their availability, making it easy to fit volunteering around other commitments.

One Ellesmere Port Primary Care Network was established in 2018 and its members include six GP Practices from across the town who are working together with the common goal of creating a better future for their patient population.

The practices that form the network are Great Sutton Medical Centre, Old Hall Surgery, Whitby Health Partnership, York Road Group Practice, Hope Farm Medical Centre and Westminster Surgery.

The network states: "We are currently planning our Coronavirus Vaccine Programme, and we will release information about this soon.

"We are looking for volunteers to support us to run the programme, acting as stewards at our vaccination site.

"The six GP Practices across Ellesmere Port are working together to deliver this service as your local Primary Care Network."
