STAFF and children from a Chester nursery have created a time capsule which has been buried at the site of their brand new home.

The new Kids Planet Chester facility is currently being built on the grounds of Chester Rugby Club in Hare Lane and is due to open in April next year.

The capsule features group pictures of children with their staff as well as artwork of the current nursery on the same site.

Children buried the capsule with help from Lord Mayor of Chester. Mark Williams, project manager for Short Construction, Chris Backhouse, and Kids Planet CEO Clare Roberts.

Nursery manager Elly Davy said: "We are delighted to have buried the time capsule under the grounds of what will become our new nursery play area.

"The children have eagerly watched the new build take shape and enjoyed getting creative and thinking about what to include."

The Chester nursery, recently rated as 'outstanding' by Ofsted, is part of the family-owned Kids Planet Day Nurseries which has 52 settings across the North West and Midlands.

The new single-storey nursery will accommodate up to 110 children from babies through to pre-school.

It will feature a range of outdoor play areas, a sensory room, secure door entry system and visitor parking.

Clare Roberts said: "We're really excited about the new nursery which will build upon the excellent care and education we already provide to families in the local community.

"We're delighted to be welcoming new families to the Kids Planet family this spring."
